Earlier this week Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond (La.) made an extremely crude sexual comment about White House counselor Kellyanne Conway in reference to a photo of Conway on her knees on a couch in the Oval Office taking a picture of President Donald Trump and a group of presidents from historically black colleges.
peaking at a dinner at the Washington Press Club Foundation Wednesday, Richmond said Conway “really looked kind of familiar in that position.”
And while the Washington Post gave Richmond a pass for the comment, many called him out and came to Conway’s defense, including Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
Now, Conway is hitting back.
Conway told the Daily Caller via text message that there would have been more outrage over the comments if she was a liberal woman — specifically a liberal, pro-abortion woman.
When asked if the media outrage over the comments would be greater for a liberal woman, Conway simply told the Daily Caller, “Yes.”
“And it is not just if I were a liberal woman, but if I were a pro-abortion one,” she added.
“I helped usher in those 60+ HBCU Presidents after speaking with them in The Roosevelt room. I was taking pics and texting the pics to [the college presidents],” Conway told the Daily Caller. “MANY of them have defended me on radio and social media.”
Richmond never apologized for his comments, which he labeled a “joke.” The fact that he never apologized, or retracted his comments, didn’t get past Conway.
“I notice he did not apologize, he tried to clarify,” she noted in comments to the Daily Caller.
Not getting the same affection that many liberal women get in politics and the media is nothing new to Conway. In fact, last year she became the first women to successfully lead a winning presidential campaign, yet the accomplishment was almost never talked about in the media.
